An infrared patio heater is judged on one thing: how fast it works after you press the button. Infrared heats people and surfaces directly rather than warming the air, so it still works where a convection heater would simply lose its heat to the breeze.
It mounts on the wall. The housing carries an IP65 rating, which covers rain and splashing under a covered patio or porch — it is not built to sit fully exposed through a winter. Being electric, there is no propane to run out mid-evening and nothing to store in a garage.
The IP65 rating covers rain and splashing under cover. Fully exposed, year-round, is a different specification and this is not it.
